Over the years, we have assisted in shaping many new athletic brands from the ground up. Carroll College, just outside of Baltimore, was starting a first ever athletic program and so they asked Rickabaugh Graphics to bring our experience to this very important project. We started by conducting stakeholder research and the information gathered informed our selections on brand messaging, brand goals, brand personality, fonts, colors and much more. Among other things, the focus studies highlighted a need at Carroll to always “emphasize education.” For that reason, the new Lynx design is focused on a star which symbolizes both high academic aspirations and also the Lynx constellation (which was the inspiration for their teams’ new nickname). To further strengthen this concept we included a depiction of the Lynx constellation in the spots on the full body version of the new cat. The Carroll brand was completed with a custom font, a mascot costume and mascot character art. Now the Lynx are ready to shine.
