There is no better joy in athletics than celebrating your love for your team. Sometimes big games and championships are the obvious focus of this passion but it doesn’t mean that we have to wait around for those things to happen. The very creative staff at Grand Valley State decided to celebrate a past that never existed... the “Sawyers.” The name, which paid tribute to the area’s past logging industry, was once considered for their nickname before the selection of “Lakers.” GVSU engaged Rickabaugh Graphics to design a “faux back” brand for the mythical Sawyers and we were thrilled to be a part of the fun playing with logs, saws and stocking caps. The event was a memorable weekend celebration that has created a brand new tradition for their faithful fans.
